Big Brother Big Sister
Big Brother Big Sister is an internationally renowned youth mentoring programme that forms friendships between a young person and an adult volunteer. This programme is operated in Ireland by Foroige, the national youth development organisation. The Galway regional office is based in Westside Resource Centre

MEAS Garda Youth Diversion Project
Garda Youth Diversion Projects are community based and supported youth development project which seeks to divert young people from becoming involved (or further involved) in anti-social or criminal behaviour. These projects facilitate personal development and promote civic responsibility.

Worldwise Global Schools
Worldwise Global Schools is Ireland’s national Global Citizenship Education (GCE) programme for post-primary schools. Community Involvement
Westside Resource Centre is involved in a number of community initiatives such as Westside Arts Festival and the production of Westside Newsletter. A number of local community groups use the resource centre as their base.

Westside Community Garden
The Community Garden was set up in 2011 with the help of Westside Resource Centre, the GRETB, the HSE, Galway City Partnership and, of course, Galway City Council who gave the site. Westside Men's Club
Westside Men’s Club was founded in 1995. It was set up to allow local men to gain access to training and to get involved in community events. At the time, unemployment in Westside was a major contributing factor in the isolation of men in the community. There was a need for a space in which men could meet away from the influence of alcohol. The values of the club centre around a sense of being involved in and contributing to the local community. Westside Community Patchers
Westside Community Patchers is a group made up of like-minded ladies who meet every Thursday morning from 10am to 12pm, in Westside Resource Centre for patchwork quilting. The group is together for a number of years now and during that time many wonderful projects have been completed by the ladies, from large quilts to small coasters, etc., some of which have been raffled for charity. The aim of the group is to learn patchwork quilting by sharing ideas and talents, while enjoying a cuppa and a chat.

Westside Community Craft Group
The Westside Craft Group meets every Monday morning from 9:30am to 12:30pm in Westside Resource Centre. It is a social gathering of people who are interested in a wide variety of craft activities and the group invites in tutors to teach on a regular basis. A display of the members' work is shown during the yearly Westside Arts Festival and items are on sale at Easter and Christmas to help fund the group.
