We need your help
19 February 2024
Westside Resource Centre is currently working with the Climate Connected project. This project is about helping individuals and communities to take positive steps towards climate action and sustainability.
At this moment we need your help… and would be very grateful if you would assist us in testing out part of the Climate Connected website. When completed, this website will contain many different tools, tips and inspirational stories that we hope will encourage people in their own lives and in their communities.
It is important to us that people from all walks of life can use this resource, that the information is helpful and relevant and that the website is user friendly and easy to navigate.
Please follow this link to take part: https://climateconnected.ie/community-tool-questionnaire-a Thank you for your assistance.

Positive Aging Week in Galway
17 October 2023
We were very proud to see our own Anne Cox featured among the inspirational people celebrated during Positive Aging Week this year.
Anne was born in Galway, spent some years in Dublin and returned to Galway to start an almost forty-year career in teaching, thoroughly enjoying every day. She will soon be seventy years old, is married with four grown up children and has two darling grandsons.
Retirement in 2013 has provided Anne with a very busy schedule for the last ten years, starting with computer literacy classes. After recovery from cancer in 2016 she joined the Westside Resource Centre Craft and Patchwork group which produced over 200 sets of baby cardigans and hats for premature babies in University College Hospital Galway. Meeting with like-minded people on a regular basis is really important to Anne bringing home to her how important this social connection is.
Anne is a voluntary member of the Board of the Resource Centre assisting with various events and child-centred activities during the popular Westside Arts Festival. She is also member of Lásadóirí na Coiribe, a lacemaking group and thoroughly enjoyed making her daughter’s Carrickmacross veil last year.
Anne also enjoys line dancing, aquafit, ancestry research, and baking for friends and relatives is her much loved pastime. Never one to stop learning, she returned to cycling again during COVID restrictions and thoroughly enjoys it!
